GEG and DFS Group Raise Awareness on Social Inclusion Through Art Workshop

Apr 25, 2017 – Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) in partnership with DFS Group is demonstrating their commitment to the community and underprivileged groups in Macau this spring through the “A Beautiful Spring” campaign. To promote the awareness on social inclusion through art, Macau local artist Mary and three special education students were specially invited to work on an oversized oil painting together outside T Galleria Beauty by DFS at Galaxy Macau™.

Considered that this was the first time the three students to work on such huge project, Mary had drawn a sketch on the 2m x 6m canvas in advance and prepared aprons for them to wear during the workshop. The students were excited and actively interacted with the artist. They applied their creativity and painted their favorite colors and patterns on the canvas. The warm and inviting atmosphere has attracted attentions from their parents and many visitors. “I’m glad to participate in this workshop with the students from Escola Cáritas de Macau,” said Mary, the Macau artist. “Their potential was unveiled as they learnt to express themselves with colors. Art is a way for us to understand and connect with each other, and with love we can eliminate the misunderstandings between us.”

The large painting features blooming flowers with greenery on the side. Implying the arrival of spring that brings the earth vibrant vitality and endless hopes, the painting makes a delightful composition with the hydrangea-themed Living Indoor Garden at The Promenade Shops, where guests could be absorbed into the ambience of delightful spring days. The painting will be donated to Escola Cáritas de Macau. The three students also received hand-painted floral tote bag made by the Macau artist. “I would like to express my gratitude to GEG for the invitation of the workshop, which provided enriching experience on the campus life of the students and also an opportunity for them to develop their potential in arts. The workshop provided a platform for them to explore the world through the window of art.” said Cheong Sek Chio, Director of Escola Cáritas de Macau.

GEG has always endeavored to uphold the pledge of “Make a Difference by Making a Commitment”. As a responsible corporate citizen, GEG makes use of various resources in contributing to the society.
